We’re a christian clothing brand started by two friends living in Knoxville, TN. We started Thelo for several reasons, the first being that we didn’t quite know what to do with our lives. We were seeking purpose. The next being that both of us were suckers for overly expensive casual-wear. The third being that we were always asking ourselves why none of the “popular” clothing brands represented christian faith. One day, Jackson Stiles, the founder of Thelo, decided that we should make t-shirts embroidered with the burning bush of Moses. When he came across the meaning of Thelo, we knew we had to move forward.
Thelo is a Greek word meaning “to desire, to purpose, to will, or to love.” In context, your Thelo is what you ultimately want most in life. Our logo represents the burning bush that Moses encountered on Mount Horeb, when he was given the 10 Commandments and called to lead the Hebrews out of slavery in Egypt.
The name Thelo combined with the burning bush logo represents our company’s mission – to inspire others to desire purpose and direction from God. Our clothing is meant to remind you of God’s plan, and make you more comfortable in pursuit of it.
We knew we couldn’t settle when it came to our shirts. We wanted to use the finest fabric, create the perfect fit, offer them at a reasonable price, all while manufacturing 100% ethically.
It took us over a year to locate our perfect manufacturer – they’re a mid-sized, family owned business that uses no child labor, pays livable wages, and provides safe working conditions. They also supply the softest pima cotton we’ve ever felt.
1 SHIRT = 3 MEALS
James 2:14 tells us “Faith by itself, without action, is dead.” We believe that as a christian brand, it’s essential that we follow in Christ’s footsteps by helping others. We’re starting by partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee for their Summer Food for Kids program, which provides healthy, easily prepared meals to children who may be missing meals on a regular basis. For every shirt sold, we’re donating 3 meals to these kids. We’ve donated over 1,800 meals so far this summer.
